I am so pleased, and honored to serve Scouting in the Boston Area. The board and volunteers I've meet from Boston Minuteman have been extremely dedicated and friendly. I am looking forward to my start date June 1, 2010. I’d like to work with you to support your volunteer efforts. To that end, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself so when we meet this summer at camp, roundtables, Adventure 100 or through the council face book site you know a little more about me in the hopes that this brief introduction and your feedback will help me better understand your needs as a volunteer.

I grew up in Boston Minuteman Council, Troop 32 Quincy to be exact, I earned my Eagle Scout in 1986, served the lodge as Vice Chief of Program, and served on camp staff at Storer Scout Reservation for 10 summers (1984 - 1993). During my summers at camp I decided to dedicate my professional life to strengthen Scouting. I have since worked in New York City, New Hampshire and Philadelphia.

Thirteen of the Boston Minuteman Board members (many of whom are volunteers you may know) gathered for several meetings over the past two months. They meet with National and regional staff members to examine performance records of Scout Professionals from all over the country. They whittled that group down to four candidates and invited each of us to Boston for two days of interviews. It was exciting and a bit nerve wracking. I am elated to be their choice and now look forward to serving as your Scout Executive.

John has activated my bsaboston.org e-mail ceaton@bsaboston.org I'll check that address each night so Boston Scouters can reach me for the next few weeks as I wrap my responsibilities in Philadelphia. Please feel free to reach me through that account or my face book profile. I’ve also linked a “video resume” to the Council face book site. I prepared the video called “Ready for Boston” for the selection committee as part of the interview process. Finally, I have started a blog to share my insights and observations as I become familiar with Boston Minuteman Council.
